Comprehensive Initial Consultation
Comprehensive initial evaluations in which patient’s concerns, symptoms, medical history, psychiatric history, past treatment history, and current treatment goals are discussed. Sometimes more than one initial consultation appointment or an extended consultation period is necessary. At the end of the initial consultation period, diagnostic assessment and treatment recommendations will be provided. At that point, Dr. Furey and the patient will decide whether to proceed with a course of treatment, thereby establishing a doctor-patient relationship. An initial consultation does not guarantee any specific medications, treatments, or letters to be provided by the Practice. Medications, including controlled substances, will not be prescribed. Disability or other similar paperwork will not be completed.

Expert Second-Opinion Psychiatric Consultations (PMDD, Perinatal, Perimenopause)
These specialized 90-minute consultations are designed for patients already engaged in treatment with another psychiatrist, therapist, or other prescriber who are seeking a second opinion regarding complex mental health concerns related to PMDD, pregnancy, the postpartum period, or perimenopause. Each session includes a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation focused on diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and the nuanced management of psychiatric symptoms during hormonally sensitive phases of life. With written permission, patients receive a detailed, formal consultation report (typically 15–30 pages) that can be shared with their existing treatment team, including psychiatrists, therapists, OBGYNs, or primary care providers. This report includes a comprehensive summary of the patient’s psychiatric and medical history, a personalized risk-benefit analysis of available treatment options, and Dr. Furey’s expert recommendations for managing psychiatric symptoms using evidence-based strategies.
These consultations are ideal for individuals navigating premenstrual, perinatal, or perimenopausal mental health challenges—particularly when facing complex decisions around psychiatric medication use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or other hormonal transitions.
$1,500-$2,000+ depending on complexity ($800 for 90-minute consultation and rate of $300/hr for report writing)
